This learning pathway prepares caregivers, community health workers, direct care workers, family caregivers, DSPs, home care aides, personal care attendants, outreach workers, and community-based care teams through community resilience training to support individuals before, during, and after emergencies. The emergency planning courses focus on critical areas such as emergency planning, climate-related health risks, continuity of care, home safety, evacuation readiness, medication and equipment planning, communication, resource navigation, documentation, and role-appropriate support for older adults, people with disabilities, and medically vulnerable individuals as part of comprehensive health worker training.
In today's world, enhancing community resilience is vital. Our community resilience training programs are designed to empower individuals and organizations alike. Alongside this, we offer comprehensive emergency planning courses that equip participants with the skills necessary for effective disaster response. Additionally, our health worker training ensures that healthcare professionals are prepared to meet the challenges posed by emergencies, ultimately strengthening our communities.
This 2-hour virtual scenario-based course focuses on community resilience training, helping learners identify home-based hazards, assess client readiness, support simple emergency planning, respond safely during common emergencies, and communicate urgent concerns clearly.
Participants will engage in health worker training by practicing role-based decision-making for various situations, including heat, smoke, flooding, storms, power outages, public health emergencies, blocked exits, and equipment or medication-planning concerns. The course emphasizes that caregivers are not expected to replace emergency responders; rather, their role is to prepare, observe, communicate, support, and safely escalate issues.
